When Madonna released her tenth world tour Rebel Heart on blu-rays, DVDs and CDs, she admitted she needed a change, because in the world of pop shows, she achieved absolutely everything. "I've done so many shows - world tours, stadiums, sports arenas, you name it - that I feel like I have to reinvent that now too," she explained in a interview for BBC. "I like doing intimate shows and being able to talk directly to the audience. "This is something I'm exploring right now: the idea of doing a show that doesn't travel the world, but stays in one place and utilises not only humour and the music in a more intimate setting but other people's music, as well, and other entertainment. "Kind of a revolving door of amazing, gifted, unique talent - dancers, musicians, singers, comedians, me, humour. I don't know! Like, I'm trying to come up with all those ideas now."
In a short interview Madonna gave to the radio iHeart Latino on May 14th, she revealed the new tour should consist at least 70 % of new music. Concluding from her Instagram, the first workshop of ideas began on May 24, when Madonna started to share first behind-the-scenes videos. In the Graham Norton Show that was broadcast on Friday June 14, the queen of touring revealed the reasons behind an intimate tour she is embarking later this year: "I like this, because I can see everybody and you can see me, right?!" she said. "I can look to everyone's eyes!" But she refused the idea of a calm-down show. "Is it going to be more acoustic?" Graham asked. "Hell, no! I'm bringing musicians that I met in Lisbon. We are going to focus on music, but there is going to be electronic music as well, technology, sometimes no musicians on stage, sometimes a grand piano, sometimes only dancing. It's going to be very theatrical, very intimate."
